PTAB Rulemaking—Filing Fees Provision to be Dropped

As has been reported here previously, on February 27, the Property Tax Appeal Board (“PTAB”) filed a rulemaking to do two things:  (1) institute a filing fee schedule for residential, farm, commercial, and industrial property and (2) to allow the county board of review 90 days (currently the rules provide 30 days) to submit the Board of Review Notes on Appeal and evidence.  TFI opposed the filing fees provision.  TFI understands that, in the Second Notice period, PTAB has revised its filing to forego the filing fees provision and only proceed with the Board of Review timing provision.

Along with TFI, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Property Tax Lawyers Association, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Farm Bureau, the Civic Federation, and the Chicago Bar Association’s Real Estate Taxation Committee opposed the PTAB rules proposal.

PTAB’s decision to not proceed with the filing fees provision is another victory for taxpayers!!!
